A country like ours where power cuts are quite normal, a diesel generator is widely used for power backup. A retro-fitted emission control device is fixed in the Generator to decrease the harmful emissions & pollutants. When diesel burns, it releases unburned hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), or particulate matter into the air. Diesel generators cause the density to increase up to 300 micrograms per cubic meter.

The concept of placing a retrofit device gives an added benefit to curb the emissions from Hydro Carbons and Carbon Monoxide out of Diesel Generators. One of the commonly used retrofitted technology for a diesel generator is the placing the equipment in the exhaust system of the diesel engine.
